February 12: Galle
We spent the morning in Galle. According to Wikipedia, Galle is "known for Galle Fort, the fortified old city founded by Portuguese colonists in the 16th century." I did my morning workout while Kimchi ran and explored the city. In retrospect, I should have gone with her and did my workout later. We did get together for a delicious breakfast at 56 by Deco — a really nice hotel. Our room was huge — two stories with the bed in the loft.
After breakfast, it was my time to tour the city. I finally found a bucket hat to replace the one I lost. After packing, we had a delicious gelato (passion fruit & coffee).
Unfortunately, the Uber ride fell through so we did the two tuk tuk thing for 3000 rupees or about $15. We ended up at the ritzy Coral Sands Hotel in Hikkaduwa — right along the water. I made a huge mistake when I forgot to check the back, which contained a white bag filled with Korean food and spices. We had to take a bus on a rain soaked day back to Galle.
We eventually returned to the hotel with Korean delights safely in hand. Kimchi made ramen, which we devoured. Still hungry and thirsty, we ended up grabbing some beer and wine at a local liquor store and washed it down with a garden salad.
