January 8: Valley of the Kings
Got up early and did a quick workout before a delicious breakfast buffet. Our tour guide met us at 8:20 am and we visited the Valley of the Kings, Temple of Hatshepsut (Hot Chicken Soup), and the Karnak Temple.
The Valley of the Kings was super cool as we visited three tombs (Rameses IX, Merenptah, and Rameses I). They were all spectacular but especially loved the color in the tomb of Rameses I. Next, it was of to the Temple of Hatshepsut, which was famous because it was built during the reign of Queen Hatshepsut — definitely less impressive than the Karnak Temple but amazing nonetheless.
After a tasty lunch buffet, we traveled to the east bank to see the Karnak Temple. A and I both loved it — we were especially impressed with its size and the many columns that were in excellent condition.
