January 4: Egyptian Museum & The Pyramids
It was a busy first full day for A. After breakfast, Alex and I headed off to the Egyptian Museum and were blown away by the many artifacts. King Tut's tomb was particularly impressive but it was one of many mind blowing moments. The mummification process that they used was incredible as we saw bodies of kings and queens that were amazingly well preserved. The mummies of Tuya and Muya were the specific ones both A and I will remember for a while. The Papyrus scrolls on display were also impressive as they maintained the detail and color from thousands of years ago.
After an amazing history lesson, it was off to lunch at Abou Tarek for some authentic koshary. We all devoured our medium plates and bought one for Kimchi as well.
Next, we picked up Kimchi from the hotel and we raced to the Pyramids. While we were enjoying the museum, she was busy negotiating an incredible deal for a 3 hour camel tour. Hassan and Mohammed were our able tour guides. I was particularly impressed with Mohammed with his friendly nature and photo skills. He took some amazing pictures for us from the sunset point.
