January 28: Sigiriya Rock
We had another great day in Sri Lanka. After an absolutely delicious breakfast at the Pigeon Island Beach Resort, we headed to the Kanniya Hot Springs in Trincomalee, Sri Lanka. After changing, I went into one of the tubs. I started to notice that no one else was in the pools. Everyone else was just using buckets and wetting their feet. Someone finally yelled for me to get out, which I did immediately – guess you’re not supposed to do a full body dunk.
Next, we drove to our hotel (Sigiriya Lion Lodge) to drop off our luggage and grab a quick lunch. The lunch of chicken curry and fish fried rice was non-rememberable. The highlight was the number of flies that showed up as soon as Kimchi opened her kimchi. We were surrounded by them.
After relaxing for about 30 minutes, it was off to Sigiriya Rock. We climbed over 1000 steps to the top — the place was full of monkeys and spectacular views.
