January 25: Columbo, Sri Lanka
We slept in this morning — didn’t get up until after 9:00 am. I got a CBS workout in before we headed out to a Korean market and then a restaurant. We bought over $100 of heavenly treats. Kimchi talked to the owner of the market for a long time and I was starving. I held it together and then we both devoured a tasty lunch.
We quickly dropped off our groceries and headed back out to the Chinese market. Instead, we were intercepted by a guy who claimed he worked at the hotel. He grabbed a tuk tuk and we were off on a world wind tour of Columbo. Eventually, we ended the unplanned tour when they asked for 4900 Sri Lankan rupee, which is about $20 for the tuk tuk driver. A shouting match ensued and we gave them 200 rupees which is under $1.
We finished doing some more shopping and then made scallion and chive kimchi. We quickly showered and then chilled in our 4 person room. The room had two bunk beds with one of our roommates being from France
