January 21 - January 24: "Explore Egypt" YouTube Video
Egypt provided a history lesson to remember as we toured the Egyptian Museum in Cairo, the Pyramids of Giza, the Valley of the Kings & Karnak Temple in Luxor, and Abu Simbel. We were also fortunate enough to experience the natural beauty of Egypt when we slept under the stars of the White Desert; relaxed at a beach resort in Hurghada; and snorkeled at the Blue Hole in Dahab.
Can’t believe it but we missed another flight because we didn’t have everything completed. This time it was the dreaded online ETA, which we attempted to complete several times but it wouldn’t process the payment.
So we threw away about $400 for tickets and then had to buy two more for another $800 — ugh. Think we might run out of money in a couple of months.
January 22: PCR Test
We had a bit of an adventure getting our PCR test. After walking to the hospital, they asked for our flight itinerary which neither of us could find on our phones. So it was off to the Egyptian Air ticket office. We rode on a van for 5 Egyptian pounds. The ticket agent was wonderful as he made copies of our itinerary and also copied my passport.
We went back to the hospital and paid our 960 Egyptian for two PCR tests. Had a laugh when one of the guys doing PCR testing had no mask on while working in the hospital.
We finished the delicious chicken soup that Kimchi made for dinner last night. After a little relaxing, we went back to the supermarket to buy food for tonight’s dinner and tomorrow’s breakfast.
January 21: Back to Sharm El Sheik
It was a travel day for us as we made our way on the bus from Dahab to Sharm El Sheik. As only the Egyptian could do, a one hour ride became two hours for no good reason.
Kimchi met and befriended two Russian women who we had dinner with at our place. Kimchi made a delicious chicken dish — clearly the best food I’ve had in Egypt.
Our place is a shithole — the bathroom has a leak and the kitchen is pretty dirty. We have two days in this dump.
