January 2: Egypt
We’re on to Egypt.
I received bad news when I looked at the phone — My son A missed his flight because he didn’t have his PCR test results yet. Ugh — fortunately, he was able to book the same flight for tomorrow. Now, he just needs a negative COVID test. Fingers crossed.
We were lucky enough to board both our flight to Bahrain and to Egypt without issue. I did temporarily misplace my passport after passing through security in Oman. Also, took a funny picture titled, “I love Oman”
It was a crazy ride from Cairo airport to our hotel. Cars, trucks, motorcycles, and people crowded the highway which had no lanes. Vehicles merged randomly as they somehow missed each other. This city of Cairo is filthy with a ton of buildings in terrible disrepair.
The views from our hotel rooftop are absolutely incredible!! Feels like we have the best view of the Pyramids— wow
Accommodations: B+ (Comfort Pyramids Inn)
The view from the roof deck is spectacular— feels like we are right on top of the Pyramids. Room is perfect for three but is too cold according to Kimchi. Bathroom is ok — feels a bit dirty.
Food: A (Pyramids Restaurant)
We had a delicious meal consisting of a mixed grill and pigeon. The appetizers were amazing — especially the eggplant.
