December 9: Mountain Climbing at Jabal Akhdar

What an amazing day — we started with mountain climbing with our tour guide Mohammed.  This activity was truly exhilarating with us dangling hundreds of meters above the ground.  We used two clips on a cable system — there were definitely some hairy spots, especially during the 90 degree vertical ascent.  Toward the end, we crossed a suspension bridge as we walked on a tightrope. "Go big or go home -- rock climbing in Alila Jabal Akhdar" Facebook Post

After the mountain climbing, we took a short hike to Saba Lake.  My legs were still shaking from the previous adventure.  Fortunately, Saba Lake was a peaceful spot that had plenty of opportunity to unwind and take great pics.

Next, we took a super scenic drive to Al Suwjara Village.  Some incredible views as we literally drove on the edge of disaster.  After touring this quaint village, we had a delicious Omanian meal. The village was originally built hundreds of years ago and has undergone extensive renovations— an awesome collection of guest houses awaits adventurous travelers.

Accommodations: B- (Stone House)

Same accommodations as yesterday— pretty big room with decent heating system.  Shower makes a mess after you are done — soaking the whole bathroom.

Food: B (Al Suwjara Village)

We enjoyed a delicious authentic Omanian meal in this quaint village.  The location was breathtaking.
