December 25: Merry Christmas from Oman
Merry Christmas from Oman! It was an eventful and busy day. We got up at 5:00 am and headed out to see the sunrise at 5:20 am. We took a bunch of pics before sunrise and then climbed to a better vantage point. We met five really cool Omanian men who, of course, invited us to “take” tea and eat pancakes with them. We had a ton of laughs with these friendly guys.
Ghassan arrived late — 9:05 instead of planned 8:30 and proceeded to get an earful from us.
We eventually recovered and had one of our most exciting days! First, we did a 5k hike to a pool on the Balcony Walk at Jabal Shams. Next, we repelled down 20 meters right by the side of the pool — most of the drop was free fall. Finally, we completed a 200 m rock climb that was super strenuous & exhilarating!
Accommodations: A+ (Muscat Dunes)
It is our second time here and we absolutely love it! Big clean room that is spotless. The price is so low for the quality.
Food: A+ (NaNa)
It’s weird to say that the best food that we had in Oman was Thai food. We celebrated Christmas with a delicious Thai meal. H had the seafood hot pot and we ate pad Thai, curry beef and chicken larb.
