December 18: Masirah Island
A super relaxing day at Masirah Island today. We left our Mahooth hotel at 7:30 am and headed to Savannah Port to catch the 9:00 am ferry to the island. Drove by a small fishing village where we grabbed a cup of coffee and chatted with some fishermen.
It cost us 15 OMR to make the trip to Masirah Island and it was so worth it. Kimchi found an awesome hotel — Masirah Beach Camp. It is an absolute paradise. Upon arriving, we had a coffee and met the chef and activity guide. We scheduled a 9:00 am snorkeling and dolphin watching tour for tomorrow.
Next, we walked down to the beach with the hotel dog and took a ton of pictures and videos. I swam a little bit but the water was quite shallow. Upon returning, the chef made us an incredible lunch —pasta and salad. The pasta had the distinct taste of India but was cooked like an Italian— al dente.
A friend of the activity guide gave us a tour of the island in his Toyota FJ Cruiser. It’s the perfect vehicle for four wheeling around the rugged terrain. The absolute highlight was a visit to the shore to harvest mussels and oysters.
Accommodations: A+ (Masirah Beach Camp)
MBC is an amazing spot along the beach with spectacular vIews of the clear blue waters of the Arabian Sea. The room was clean and quite comfortable— we slept like babies.
Food: A+
The pasta from the chef at the MSB was outstanding— perfectly cooked and seasoned. The chef also boiled our mussels for a late night, tasty snack.
