December 16: Rest & Recovery Day

It was a rest and recovery day for us.  We woke up sort of late. After a cup of coffee, I did an hour workout and also swam a few laps.

We eventually headed out with laundry on the day’s agenda.  Although the laundromat was closed from 1-4, we went to the owner’s apartment and asked if we could drop off the load with him.  He asked us, “How did you find me?”

We then had lunch at an Asian restaurant— it was wicked good.  After appeasing our appetite, it was off to Lulu Hypermarket.  It was the first time I felt I was in a market similar to the USA.  They had everything and I mean everything— a butcher, pastry shop, and a flipping fish tank.

We quickly met Ghassan at a Turkish restaurant with one of his friends.  It was obvious that he had spoken a great deal about us — especially Kimchi — to his friend.

Back to the laundry to pick up our clothes before making the 2+ hour drive to Sur.  We slept in a hotel for only 10 OMR

Accommodations: B

Best deal of the trip — pretty large, clean room with Internet for only 10 OMR.  Even the bathroom was fairly clean.

Food: A-

We had delicious Mongolian chicken and spicy red pepper noodles.  Just the right amount of spice — not too hot and wicked tasty.
