December 13: Wahiba Sands

After getting absolutely no sleep at our camp, we did enjoy a long soak in a hot spring filled tub.  I actually washed my body with soap along with many other men.  Kimchi was the only one in the hot spring.

Ghassan drove over three hours to Wahiba Sands.  Upon arriving, we stopped by a couple of fancy campsites.  Neither met Kimchi’s high expectations. At this point, she took matters into her own hands and found an awesome place for 50 OMR or $130 that included dinner and breakfast.

With accommodations settled for the evening, we did some driving over the Sandy dunes.  Kimchi and I both got a chance to test our driving skills.

The last part of our day was definitely the highlight — a camel sunset tour.  Spectacular would be the word chosen to describe it.  Lots of fun videos and beautiful pics.

Accommodations: A+ (Sama)

Kimchi, once again, found a really nice spot in Wahiba Sands.  The airconditioned room felt good after spending time in the desert.  The room was super clean with complimentary water and coffee in a spacious common area.  The only downside was the water pressure in the shower and the fact that we had two single beds pushed together.

Food: A++ (Sama)

Somehow Kimchi picked out an incredible spot right next to a Shell gas station.  After stopping by two places, we settled on the one she picked and weren’t disappointed.  We absolutely loved the fish curry, omelet, and bread.

Dinner was also quite tasty as we were treated to a barbecue of camel and chicken.  The soup was outstanding— out of this world!!
